Tatiana Herrera is a first generation Salvadoran/Colombian artist born & raised in the DC/MD/VA area. She graduated with a degree in Communications from Marymount University and currently works in the events/marketing field. 16 years ago she picked up a paintbrush and discovered a passion for art; she has not stopped since. Tatiana is a self-taught artist who strives to evolve her craft year after year by maintaining an open mind to the world around and by deriving inspiration from other artists. She is an acrylic texture artist. She’s inspired by color, nature, scenic landscapes, street/urban art, graffiti and city skylines. She has showcased in pop-up traveling exhibits in DC, MD, VA, PA and does commission paintings/murals upon request. She is an aspiring mural artist who has done work at residences and local businesses such as a beauty salon, tavern, and vineyard. She has also done voluntary workshops about the importance of art at local elementary schools.

From the artist:

I paint from a place in my heart and mind that words cannot fully describe. My work is an exploration of the inner landscape of the human experience—those fleeting moments, emotions, memories, and contradictions that can be difficult to name, yet deeply shape who we are.

Each piece is more than meets the eye. Bold color, movement, texture, and form become tangible expressions of feelings that exist beneath the surface. I am drawn to the beauty of feeling deeply: the joy and longing, tenderness and tension, vulnerability and strength that coexist within us. Through painting, I transform these intangible experiences into visual statements that invite the viewer to pause, feel, and find something of themselves within the work.

I choose to share my work with the world as an invitation to connect through vulnerability and authenticity. In a world that often asks us to move quickly and feel quietly, my paintings are an opportunity to slow down, look inward, and embrace the complexity of being human.

I hope each piece finds its way to someone who feels something when they encounter it—something unexpected, familiar, or uniquely their own.
